  1.                      LEMON POPPY SEED SCONES

  4. 6 c. flour
  5. 1 c. sugar
  6. 3 lemon rinds
  7. 3 T. baking powder
  8. 1-1/2 t. salt
  9. 1-1/2 c. softened butter
  10. 3 T. poppy seeds
  11. 3 eggs
  12. juice of 3 lemons
  13. milk
  14.  
  15.           Combine dry ingredients and cut in butter.  Blend
  16. enough milk to make 2 cups with eggs and juice.  Combine wet and
  17. dry mixtures.  Roll dough out to 1-1/2 inch thick.  Cut into 3-
  18. inch rounds.  Place on greased sheets.  Bake at 375 degrees for
  19. 20 to 25 minutes.  Makes 10 to 12 large scones.
